Facility Rules

The following lists are the pool rules for the competitive pool, instructional pool, outdoor pool and diving well.  Signs of the rules are posted in their respective pools on the deck. 

Open Swim Policies:

Martin Aquatics Center is open to all currently enrolled Auburn students, Aquatics Center members and paid guests.

Open Swim is intended for individual workouts and leisure swimming.

Lifeguards must be on duty before anyone may enter the water.

Group activities are not allowed during Open Swim unless they have been arranged in advance through the Facility Manager.

Lessons, coaching and other instructional activities are not allowed during Open Swim unless arranged for in advance through the Facility Manager.

All children must be supervised by an adult while in the water.

If there are more than 2 patrons in a lane, they must circle swim.

Competition Pool Rules:

1.       Use of the Aquatics Center is prohibited unless supervised by authorized personnel.

2.       Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

3.       All users must be able to swim proficiently.

4.       No swimming under bulkheads.

5.       No running, pushing or shoving on the pool deck.

6.       Everyone must shower before entering the water.

7.       Anyone with diarrhea, skin diseases, open lesions, etc. is not allowed in the pool.

8.       No glass containers allowed in pool area.

9.       No animals or pets are allowed in the building.

10.   No flotation devices allowed in pool except those approved by lifeguards.

11.   Use of the starting blocks is prohibited.

12.   Use of diving platforms is prohibited.

13.   Use of diving boards must be approved by lifeguards.

14.   Appropriate swimming attire must be worn.

15.   Lifeguards have final authority on all safety issues and may remove anyone for behavior that is deemed either unsafe or inappropriate.

Instructional Pool Rules:

1.       Use of the Aquatics Center is prohibited unless supervised by authorized personnel.

2.       Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

3.       NO DIVING IN THE SHALLOW END.

4.       No one is permitted on the bulkhead.

5.       Ramp is for entering and exiting the pool only.

6.       No running, pushing or shoving on the pool deck.

7.       Everyone must shower before entering the water.

8.       Anyone with diarrhea, skin diseases, open lesions, etc. is not allowed in the pool.

9.       No glass containers allowed anywhere in the pool area.

10.   No animals or pets are allowed in the building.

11.   No flotation devices allowed except those approved by lifeguards.

12.   Appropriate swimming attire must be worn.

13.   Lifeguards have final authority on all safety issues and may remove anyone for behavior that is deemed either unsafe or inappropriate.

Open Diving Rules:

1.       Use of diving boards must be approved by authorized personnel.

2.       One person on diving board at a time.

3.       No reverse or inward dives permitted.

4.       No diving off stairs.

5.       No hanging on boards or platforms.

6.       Use of diving platforms is prohibited.

7.       Use of trampoline and dryland diving board is prohibited.
